back to story telling

Yes. I did steal that title. Robin, if you read this, thank you! For certain I could use an editor. LOL!!!

Welcome to Friday Video! This week on the channel we are continuing to focus on the latest in house collection: 49 and Market's Terracotta Color Swatch Collection. It's a beautiful range of moody, dark yet pinky hues, that elicit story telling and making of all kind.

This collection included these die cut frames. We can always use your frame dies to make similar, and I for sure encourage that. These frames seem to have elluded me in the past. Here in this week's video, (plus last weeks video) we are taking a dive into how to use on a page, as well as maybe their own tag or card cover. Be sure to check out ALL videos for that.

The other idea behind this storytelling page was a prompt. It was a challenge to use the sentiments on the rub ons to prompt the story telling on this page. I did just that which I explain in further detail in the tutorial. There is this part of me that wants to make deeper use of the sentiments that come with these collections. This week's video was exercising just that. Hope you too are inspired by the myriad of sentiments found in your stash.

Tell your story, my friends! For it is there we find so much clarity.

Loved what another friend shared in the comments for this video too: we do not have to hurry. We do not need to hurry our stories. Which is dynamically true. In this week's tutorial I share a little peek at last year's album. 2023. It's a bit sparse. That being said, there are quite a few layouts floating around here that have not made their way into the album. I do not know why I do that...do you do that? Anyway...photo found on this page was of Thanksgiving last year. But the story was not. Because it took almost a year for that story to emerge. I know, right? The photo for sure represents so much. But then when it's backed with the journaling that will go along with the image, I feel the depth of this and am so thankful for what it gives back to my heart. The power of story, my friends. Words on a page. That speak deep to the heart.

And so, yeah..this is me. Can't ever just take something for face value. There is always deeper meaning to be found. It's not just about 'scrapbooking'. Although for sure it is that. But what we do here is that and so much more. As we look for the story, and we take the photo, I believe it shapes us and matures us and gives us a very special perspective to our life. I believe that to be true for artist of all kinds. It's that slowing down and taking stock. In this very loud world I believe it's more important that ever.

Tell your story. Write the words. Be present in them. And be found a better human for doing just that.
