How To Inspire the Making of a Project

creating creative space

Sometimes you just need to have a home.

Then the ideas and photos and creativity have place.

That’s how I felt with this new Charming Album I have started.

Laughing, I am calling it a Charming Album because it was not only inspired by the little prince that is my grandson. It is also inspired by the Charming Collection that premiered last week. So I just keep calling it that. Don’t mind me.

When I started this new album project, I had not decided on what album it was going to be held in. But then I thought green. It needs to be a green album. And so that’s what I did. Last week I ordered a green 6x8 ScrapbookCom album to be home to baby’s first year.

And now as I start to add photos to this album, the ideas are just starting to come to me. I love that. No doubt, one can start a project and not have a home ready for it yet and just go along until that thought comes together. However, I’m just so excited to now know what that album is going to be.

For me, doing is motivation. Often we wait for inspiration. I am a big fan of the idea that the inspiration comes in the work. Do the thing, find the inspiration. It’s not completely that simple. But it sorta kinda is that simple.

With the start of this baby’s first year album, I did not really know how it was going to go. But then, I just started it. Already I have had to replace a page in the little mini album. But that’s ok. It’s no big deal. I just fixed it and moved on. This is me encouraging you, don’t be afraid of the mistakes you have not yet made. Just make the mistake. And fix it. Less fixating over the supposed wrong move, and more making pages and writing the story that only you can tell.

To help you with some of the inspiration, there is a video tutorial that shares three projects for this album. Projects I pre-made before even having this album in hand.

Projects I pre-made and share with you all the details.

Projects I pre-made because we can pre-make stuff and not really know where it’s going to go but simply have fun making the project. What can be so great about that? Is that it’s an inspiration starter to just make elements and save them for a later make.

With that, I am now placing those pre-made items into the beginning pages of this album. When this album is complete, which will not be until baby is 1, I will be sure and share with you all the details. I will say I have already added additional embellishments to the front mini album. I have already changed my mind six times as to where the numbers for the dates will go. I have already added words and stamps and a few of my favorite elements to make this album what I want it to be.

Now. Is there a project in mind that you don’t have all the things perfectly gathered for? That you still need maybe an album for? That you keep waiting for the inspiration to start it? Well. Now I have taken all your excuses away.

Go forth, now, and tell your story.
