An Easy Way to Use a Card Die | Tip Tuesday | JamiePate.com

more than one way

You know what is so great about paper crafting supplies? So many of them can be used more than one way.
Yep!
Bet you didn't know that until I made such a Ms. Obvious statement, now did ya?
Yes. This is an obvious reality with paper crafting and card making and scrapbook page constructing. There are multiple ways with many of our tools.

And...it's not the first time I have done just that very thing with this type craft die. Just what exactly am I talking about?

Hey friends...when you shop these links I receive a small kick back from your sales from ScrapbookCom and/or Heidi Swapp Shop. There is absolutely no extra cost to you at all! But these commissions help to cover the costs of this blog and other expenses to provide you with this and other project ideas. I want to continue to bring you FREE inspiration. Shopping these links allows me to do just that. I can't thank you enough for your love and continued support. Also, the opinions expressed in my blog and my YouTube Channel and all social platforms are independently my own.

I am referring to this A2 Card Die. Yet again, a card die has found its cute self on a scrapbook page.

Here for it, my friends! Love this for a couple of reasons. But I digress. Let's chat about this card die for a second.

This Hi cover is actually a freebie at ScrapbookCom this week at the time of this writing. As the title shows it's an A2 size, which is 4 1/4 x/ 5 1/2 inches. It's a border and a sentiment in one. There are a myriad ways to use this die on a card front or a tag. But here? it's the main embellishment on this two page scrapbook spread.

It's available for free from August 21 - August 24.

Here's the link and then we shall continue: A2 Hi Card Die

OK...so back to why the love for this die. Well, if you follow this blog you know that I am currently telling my stories and scrapbooking in the Heidi Swapp Storyline Chapters inserts. So this A2 sized die makes for a big impact embellishment.

And since it is such a large statement this die cover can be THE embellishment cluster of the page spread.

You can see in the image above, the die cut is cut out in two pieces of the new Vacation Smooth Cardstock. The pink cut will be layered over the orange cut in such a way that the bottom layer can be seen. You can see how that looks in the final image.

Then, before adhering the A2 down, I went in and added 49 and Market Rub Ons to the page using the Spectrum Gardenia collection which matches this layout very well.

Then, using the Hello Summer stamp set, I stamped images right on the background paper. A little journal strip was stamped too and will be part of the page.

Here is in the final. You can see how the die cuts are layered one over the other. And then how the rub ons and the stamped 'summer' peek through the cuts. Really happy how this turned out. Eager to repeat this process and technique on another page layout.

So, as a final thought, here are a few tips to be found on this scrapbook page:

1. use card covers for large embellishment statements

2. add stamps or rub on transfers to the background to create additional layers

3. keep a page fairly simple with a high impact single embellishment

4. challenge yourself how to use A2 dies more than as a card cover

As always, I do hope you found value in this article today. Would love to hear from you in the comments. And remember, keep telling your story and making stuff.

P.S. Watch this video HERE to see how another card cover die was used in a different way on a scrapbook page.
