celebrate everything
Do you have a December birthday in your relations?
Not only does December hold my sister's (my only sibling) birthday...but get this...my parents were married a week before Christmas! Talk about making spirits bright!
So why am I telling you this? Because I almost always add my sister's birthday festivities to my December Stories Album. And this year was most important as it was her initiation into Club 50. Right?!? I know!!!
With this reality she merited a full page in this year's album too. More images from the party are included in this story, but for now we are just gonna talk about her page with me included. Because...I'm the author of this post.
To start, this single page layout is crafted on a 6x8 piece of white cardstock. I am a fan of THIS paper for inky backgrounds that do not include water. I will need to tutorial this technique. It uses a gel plate plus the Dainty Snowflake Small Stamp to create the whimsical background.
A go-to technique for this page maker is layers. I used the new Large Dainty Snowflake Stamp and Die set to craft these snowflakes. I made several of them so that I had them at the ready. Then I just went to layering them on the page. Sort of making a cluster of a space for the photo to be part of.
After the snowflakes were in place, I then used Spellbinders Squiggly Dies to cut out glitter paper as well as silver paper. I never really know how many are going to be enough. This is a great reason to compartmental craft. Turn on a Christmas movie, and die cut to your hearts content all manner of your favorite dies. Nothing better than to have lots of those at the ready.
For this texture and details I added in another snowflake. This one I cut in half as I knew not all of it would be seen. Helps those die cuts to go farther. The texture stamp is from a Stampers Anonymous set. The 50 is die cut using the ScrapbookCom Festive Number Die Set. I know...more dies. But look how far they go, and how often you can use them. That fun FaLaLa sentiment is from the Christmas Carolers new Stamp and Die set.
And did you notice that sort of coffee ring, but only in green? That's brand new. It's from Vicki Boutin's Print Shop Paperie Pack...oh. SO GOOD!!! I'm a fan of that little collection. To be sure I will be using that a whole lot in future pages.
That's basically how this page came together. Very simple. Relies heavily on the layers. And it makes for a most wonderful story in this year's December Stories.
Thank you for stopping by today. If you could help support this blog and the video tutorials I share I would love it if you would click through the supplies and make your purchases that way. It is no extra cost to you. And let me know what you buy...I would love to make stuff with what you love too. Thank you so much for your support. And Merry Christmas.
