beautiful brights in the house
Crafting DIY Cards With Bright Cardstock
Today I am thrilled to be a part of the ScrapbookCom Livestream. Over on their YouTube channel today at 9 am MST you will be privy to these new products. Laura, from ScrapbookCom, is the most wonderful host. She will bring to you so much excitement as she shares with you all kinds of unique ideas using the Brights Smooth Cardstock.
Now. Let's be honest. Because that's all I actually really am. Honest. I'm not a huge color fan. However, I am always up for a challenge. So. Taking these smooth cardstock paper pads, I went to work to make the brightness work with my style. I think I may have pulled it off.
Stay true to you. Meaning? I could have tried to play this off to look like someone else who crafts with colors well. Instead, I veered away from that. It took a bit of work. For me. And that's OK. As I think it was worth the effort. I really love this card. For the most part, I think I accomplished working with a color outside my comfort zone, yet still crafting something beautiful with the bright cardstock.
Inside I paired a tag from Heidi Swapp Old School. I really liked the contrast of that pink against the black. Plus, it made a unique space to add a note or extra sentiment for the receiver.
DIY Card Process Video : Brights Smooth Cardstock
As you can see in the video, I made an envelope type holder around the brights cardstock.
Then on an insert piece that I made using the Brights Cardstock, I stenciled the Dotted Stencil with Tattered Rose Distress Oxide Ink. I loved how this looked. Especially when the card was pulled all together inside the vellum.
From Pink Paislee And Many More Collection, I fussy cut Paper 09 so I could have the flowers to embellish the outside of the card. The Oh Hey is from the Old School Sticker Book. As is the little label that is used to pull the insert in and out of the vellum envelope.
I love how this card turned it. It will be fun to incorporate more of the brights into my style. Now, it's your turn. Check out today's LiveStream. Or watch the replay at your leisure. And then try your hand at creating a brights card made by you.
