using pocket cards to layer and embellish

Can you tell I have been on a story telling bent lately? I mean how many layouts have I created this month? January was a reset for me on many levels. Wanting to get more stories told was a goal of mine I decided I needed last month. So. Here we are. Printing photos and telling my story.

Welcome and thank you so much for being here.

This newest layout in my Storyline Chapters Insert is utilizing Simple Scrapbooks Pocket Cards. The pink with the modern geometric rose pattern 4x6 card is part of the Every Day Moments Pocket Cards available at ScrapbookCom. I layered that card over my new favorite Bazzill Vanilla Cardstock. That cardstock was stenciled with the Dotted Stencil and Ballet Slipper Stamping Ink. I really like how that Pocket Card is in place to pop the rest of the layout.

The Good Things Card is a 3x4 card from the same set. I rounded the corners to give that card a sort of a tabbed look before layering it under my photo. There are 42 cards included in this card set. These are just a few of my favorites.

For this page I combined a couple of different collections yet still was able to make the layout cohesive.

The 'love this a lot' is a WordFetti Stamp from ScrapbookCom. It's stamped with Tattered Rose Distressed Ink. The round 'smile' sticker is from Heidi Swapp Old School. The white stems is a Thinlits Die called Hidden Leaves. All this is linked below in case you are interested. The flower die cut is from Heidi Swapp Storyline Chapters Project Pad Stickers. The Washi is also from Storyline Chapters Collection. (Oh man...I'm just now seeing it is sold out.) Then finally, if you can see it, I have another rounded corner tab tucked in with the layers that is also a Simple Scrapbooks Pocket Card.

As you can see I have no compulsion to cut the cards up, or cover these cards up, or round corner these cards up to make them work on a page. They don't have to be placed inside a pocket. Use them as layering pieces or punch them for embellishments for your layout.

I hope this inspires you to think outside the pocket cards for your next layout. Be watching for these cards in future layouts as I will be doing this again. And always remember the best stories and layouts are the ones made by you.
