why i document weekly
Why?
Because I forget.
Without remembering we are lost.
That may sound melodramatic. But I think for me it is very true.
How quickly do the days melt together and you can't remember which day you did what thing?
For me? All. The. Time.
I will forget.
I will forget the things.
The moments.
The emotions.
The milestones.
The way I felt when I was actually able to get an order of groceries when the world around me was fearful and telling me we were not going to have enough.
I remember that. Because I took a picture of those groceries. Wrote about it. And marked that in my memory.
This weekend holds National Scrapbook Weekend.
Earlier in the week was Tell Your Story Day.
I am exploiting these social media holidays to the nth degree.
Stories have always touched me.
When I began writing my own many many years ago, my stories had an additional impact on me then.
They have impact on me now. Because I gave them space and now have remembrance.
It's just so powerful.
What a gift we have discovered to not only write our story down in a safe place. But to then also bring photo and creativity right along side this remembering activity. Whether we showcase every 12x12 layout we create with intricate detail and love. Whether we are more comfortable with minimalist type layouts that streamline the embellishments and draw strong attention to a photo. Or whether we follow a formula in our weekly documenting in order to give rhythm to these pages. It does not matter how we tell them. What matters? The telling.
I have been spending a lot of time in this Storyline Chapters Insert. This is the Scrapbooker edition of the collection. I will not go into the details here of how this is working for me right now. You can find additional posts and information right here if you click through:

Family Chaptes 2020 | Week 10
In a way this process has renewed my love for this way of telling story. I can play with the product and the photo placement and how I record the journaling. I sometimes stick to a monthly color theme. Sometimes I let the photos lead me. I am trying to stay real fluid here and just enjoy the process.
But there will be at least one thing always consistent with these pages:
journaling.
And that brings us full circle here today on this post. The photos always solicit an emotional response. But it's the writing. The telling. The story part of these pages that will always remain the same and bring with it the remembering.
Tell your story.
