How To Craft Valentine Cards With Foil Flakes
It's SNOWING here today.
And I am literally just playing around with heart cuts and Heidi Swapp Foil Flakes and Glue Pen and Minc Champagne Foil + Heidi Swapp new Valentine Digital Bundle.
This is a large version of the heart cut out Valentine tag card...whatever you would like to call it. I really love how this turned out and simply wanted to share the how to with you.
There is another coming soon post that uses some of these same techniques. But those foil flakes added randomly on paper got me like all the heart eyes. I just love the effect. I think the effect is most effective (is that correct grammar) on cut paper like this heart die cut I used here. I will link that cut file down below. It's definitely a new favorite.
Here's what you will need to make this card/tag/Valentine:
Color Fresh Pattern Paper. I really love that painterly pattern.
Heidi Swapp Foil Flakes
Heidi Swapp Glue Pen
Minc Transfer Sheets
Champagne Foil
Heidi's Valentine Digital Bundle
Cardstock
sewing machine
gold metallic thread
First I cut this Sketched Heart Digital cut file from Kristen Magee. It's my new favorite.
Next. I simply randomly added swipes of the Glue Pen to different parts of the heart. No real pattern. Just random. Then I let the glue get to a tacky feel.
Then...the fun part. Messy. But fun. Today was an OK day for messy. I really love these Foil Flakes. They are just gorgeous!!!
To apply, shake some flakes out. Lay over the tacky glue. Rub with your finger.
Remove excess with a paper towel rubbing until the extra flakes come free. It's really easy. And it's just so therapeutic.
The next thing I did was foiled a 6x6 Minc Transfer Sheet with Champagne Reactive Foil. I used this foiled sheet in my Sihouette Machine. This is where the Heidi Swapp Valentine Digital Bundle came into play. I cut one of the sentiment files on this foiled paper. See next image to find out how it all came together.
To finish this little card embellishment cluster, I sewed a heart shape on cardstock. Then I trimmed around that stitching. The Foil Flaked cut heart was hot glued to the cardstock base. Then the Champagne foiled 'for you' was also hot glued to the heart cut. A bit of trim was added to the edge to finish the look. I love it. Hope you find time to try too.
All supplies used in this post are listed below.
Happy almost Valentines Day!!!
