How to Scrapbook Yourself with Pink Paislee Truly Grateful by Jamie Pate

remember to tell your story too

I don't do this often.
Or should I say often enough?
I do not 'scrap' my story.
I tell many stories of course through my eyes.
Through my voice.
But they are not necessarily my personal story.
For some of us that can be a hard thing to tell. To write. To take a pic of ourselves and put on a page.
Hopefully I can encourage you a little on this idea.

For me, scrapping a story that puts me at the focus point actually brings with it a little bit of freedom.
I can choose my photo.
I can take it how ever I want.
I can filter the heck out of it or leave it a little raw.
It's my story.
I am the narrator.
So I am giving myself permission to tell it just how I want to tell it.

These images did indeed require a tripod. Set up in my front studio room. With great light. The one with the camera was me in the mirror. Yeah, these can be a little self conscious to take. And I just decided to be ok with that. I did not need to explain or apologize to anybody, because there was a story in my head and heart I wanted to let out and this was my way to do it.

A scrapbook page about me also gives me freedom to just play on the page. I cut a Paige Evans florally/leafy cut file. I played with bright watercolors and splattered them not only on my background paper, but also on the cut file itself. Once the cut file was glued to the page using a liquid clear glue, I then embellished the wreath further with sequins and puffy dots. I did not over think this. I just played and truly enjoyed the process.

I gathered all the florals I wanted from Pink Paislee Truly Grateful Collection. Not only was that collection aligned with the story I wanted to tell, and that was a story about gratitude and how thankful I am for the right now, even in all it's imperfection, but the paper line is bright and colorful, which is not by natural my go-to...but again, it was in alignment with me and my right now. Making some needed changes in my life. Taking paths I have not before. And being more bold and comfortable in my own skin.
To scrapbook a page about oneself encompasses colors and embellishments that also support the story. I loved how this worked out.

Lastly, a feature in how to scrapbook about yourself, is to write. Yes! You heard me. Write it down. Write down the story of right now. Again. The good. The bad. The thankful. The imperfect. This page I purposefully gave myself plenty of space to write down the story of this very moment in time. That in itself was a very wholehearted approach to a craft I already love so very much. But that is a post for another time.

Here's what you do: take a few photos of yourself. Gather your most favorite paper crafting supplies, and even a few outside your norm, and write write write your story. Because nobody else will.
