8 of my favorite things

these are a few of my favorite things
You know you have them.
Your favorite things that is.
We all do.
Those tried and true, keep going back, can't scrap a page or craft a card without them necessities that we consider our go-to papery stash needful supplies.
Yeah. Those.
Let me share just 8 of my almost always found on a page - always reached for favorite things. There are more. I am sure of it. I'm just complicated enough to need more than 8. But these items here have proven faithful again and again. And if you ever take a class of mine abroad or online you too will be reaching for these items as well.
So here we go.
Notched tags. Die cut tags. I lumped these sort of two separate items into one category. The notched tags are just simply always always found on my projects. They are what I consider DIY embellishments. You only need pretty paper. And scissors. (oh gosh darn...scissors!!! I have favorite scissors too...for another post, I suppose.) Trimming out pattern paper to the needed size and scope, I then just v-notch the end creating a banner or flag, if you will. Then there are the die cut tags. I LOVE tags. I have tags on all the things. Same sort of idea. Find you a set of tag die cuts you can't live without, and start cutting. Tags make for great layering elements all the time. (See my favorite die cuts in the supplies below.)
Word cards. Yep. I love sentiments and quotes and anyway to remind me of what needs to be reminded. The card shown here is from the Color Fresh Ephemera Pack. These quote cards make great additions to scrapbook pages, pocket pages, DIY cards, and for sure planners.
Phrase stickers. These should probably actually be at the top of my list. Cause phrase stickers are the bomb! I have used and over-used these embellishments for years. Talk about enhancing an embellishment cluster. Especially these awesome Tim Holtz sayings in that classic type font. Yep. Must have favorites right here.
Is baker's twine a silly thing to have for a favorite thing? No? Oh good. Thought not. And this here little spool of thread from Doodle Design is a new favorite. It's more thin than I have used in the past. I like it better than the more bulky twine I use to get. So not only is it a favorite (and adding trim to those above mentioned die cut tags), but this one is a new brand find and I like it.
Stapler. A little mini stapler. And it's all pretty and white too. This one is always on the desktop waiting for me to make use of it. I like it's little size. I like it's color. I like I can add colored staples to it and get all creative and crafty with a little yet very useful tool. Ya might need this on your table top too.
Now a ruler may not qualify as a favorite thing, but as a crafter ALWAYS reaching for one of her dozens of rulers lying about, this one has become a welcome addition to the fold. Mostly because stenciled alphas. I. Love. This. ruler. I mean when you can get multi-function in a crafty way ya gotta go for it, and not let it get lost under the endless pretty papers on your work table.
Camera! anything!!! I have always loved a camera icon. I hoard them when they are the only camera icon on a sticker sheet. Craft stash hoarders of the world unite! So...when I found this uber cutey paper from Crate Paper full o' cameras, I may have picked up a sheet or 6. This DIY embellishment idea may be coming to a class near you soon. So cute. Did I say that?
Lastly today I want to share with you the perennial favorite: labels. There is a bit of an old school theme I got going here with tags and typed font and retro cameras and labels. Are you feeling it too? Labels are super must have for my paper crafting. I stumbled upon these free ones in oh so many colors right HERE at Kaitlin Schafer. Free download labels. You're welcome.
These are (just) a few of my favorite things. I hope maybe you can find a new favorite too. That's what we paper crafters do. Share our favorite things. Now, let me hear about yours!
