the story telling of right now

to create is to make

Wait?
What?
That's a pretty profound statement.

Yep. It is.
To create this layout is to have made this layout.
To write this story is to have made this story.

Can we say this story existed before?
Yes.
In my mind.
For I am pretty sure that the girls this Girl Squad layout represents cannot even recall this little silly story.

But now. Now it exists.
This story is a marker in time.
This story, to me, right now, as a mother and an aunt, evokes a myriad of emotion.

Mind if I get a little extra honest with you?

For you see, the passing of time (and the disharmony of community) makes this story not a reality right now.
The connectedness and fun and frivolity is not fluid amongst these girls right now.

And while that brings me emotions of melancholy because I believe so strongly in family. And being connected. And having community in our lives. And knowing we are always there for each other.
Sometimes we are not.

And that is ok.
Because this story still exists.

And maybe right now it's not a current story being lived out.
It's still a story nonetheless of what was, what probably is still right there just slightly beneath the surface, and what can perhaps in the future grow into it's new reality that may even be more strong and mature than it is now.

The power of telling our story. The power of making it pretty because that is what will bring us into this page in future days. The power of making what was not before is one of the most gratifying things a story teller can be involved in.

Let's take time this weekend to pay attention to the stories around us. The stories that will not last forever. But that mark a place in time, a place in our hearts, that give hope to our stories of the future.
