time to review the process
If there is a subject that has surfaced here a couple times now recently, it is that of review. Or reflection.
The importance of reflection on what has happened.
With a focus on what should now happen.
The year is half way through. Six months are now in the books. For me that means I review some things. Right now I am reflecting on my story telling process. For this year.
To be honest, I have not kept up. And by that I mean I have not kept up with the standards I had in mind for story telling this year.
That does not mean stories were not told. I have evidence of life lived here. Plenty of photos.
But I had a more specific story telling approach in mind: think Project Life. I have some catching up to do. I'm not where I want to be on this project.
Now I could look at what IS done as a fail. But I'm choosing not to do that. I choose instead to look at what IS documented as a gain.
And while I am firm that what I have is a gain, I need to adjust going forward. That does not mean that I think I need to work harder. Rather, I need to find a way to work better to tell the stories that are important to me.
Here are a couple of things I have in mind to help me work better:
1. index photos weekly. That means catalog photos from my phone and my traditional camera and get them on my computer. This does not take that long. I have a post HERE that goes into detail on my approach. I need to renew my commitment to this for my photo gathering.
2. go minimalist. For my Project Life type documenting, I have a strong desire to go pretty minimal. Think Paislee Press. This won't take away from my more creative mini albums and cards and brand assignments. Nope. This is instead an adjustment so I can just get those every day stories told.
3. journal everyday. Yep. Told you this was going to be a hot topic. But I have already upped this game, and I so it's in motion as a focus for the rest of this year. I just need to keep going.
OK. Deep breathe. We can do this! Bottom line? Keep it simple (this is a note to self). The every day stories I want to tell don't need me to work harder. They need me to work better. And this little review here has been helpful. I hope it has for you too.
