crafting school supplies with love

One can find inspiration everywhere

Like the notebooks my daughter uses for her school subjects

Which she has already blown through this year.

And needed more.

The ones she had were your basic spiral bound notebooks covered with on trend covers that held unicorns and pineapples and iridescent foil touches. You know. All the current trendy images.

With supplies I already had at home I wanted to add to her collection. But with some mama love.

For this project I used:

pattern paper

filler paper

book board or chipboard

cinch binding tool

coil binding wire

Silhouette cutting machine

Minc Machine

Minc Laminate Sheets

Being a creator I go to my supplies and tools before running to the store to buy something. Like this notebook. I love to just be able to whip a something something up for her. Gives me a sense of accomplishment. AND…she seemed genuinely touched that I had made it for her. And that just makes me happy.

To craft the cover, I cut the pineapple shape out of the Counting On You pattern paper from Heidi Swapp’s Color Fresh Collection. OK...seriously...that paper name already!!! Not only is it perfect for a math notebook...but it just fuels me too. I know...it's the simple things.

Using a laminate sheet and the Minc Machine, I laminated the pattern paper with the cut. This will obviously be the cover. This technique not only created a sturdy cover to protect the filler papers, but it also caused a fun see-through feature. The second paper in the notebook was the B side of the Counting On You pattern paper that shows through the pineapple opening.

I then gathered the laminated cover. The pattern paper. The filler paper. A piece of chipboard with which to back the notebook. All these were filed in the Cinch binding wire. Using these INSTRUCTIONS: I bound my notebook.

Ta dah! Crafted love. My favorite.

Crafting love at home is not hard. It’s super diy. It’s very rewarding. And the recipient..yeah…she’ll just love ya for it too.
