Celebrating holidays in traditional fashion.
Call me a traditionalist. For it's a pretty true fact. I'm a traditional girl. And Memorial Day is a traditional American holiday. Memorial Day, in it's truest and most traditional definition, is the day we honor those American military who gave the ultimate. They gave their life in the line of duty somewhere in this world. For the land they love.
Memorial Day began to make head way after the Civil War. Then it was know as (and still formerly today) Decoration Day. This would be the decorating and leaving flowers at soldier's graves.
Today, Memorial Day is very often the first unofficial kick off weekend of summer. And while it is indeed that, and while we will be pulling out our grills and inviting friends for food, fun and games, let's take some time to remember. Remember these fallen who gave their all.
Let’s celebrate these men and women today. Let’s say a prayer for their memory and the ones they left behind. Let’s lift a glass and praise the land of the free, because of the brave.
