cut shoppe & bella blvd blog hop
3.10.2017
Bella Blvd is joining forces with The Cut Shoppe with some serious creativity.
Today I am joining Ashley from The Cut Shoppe along with Bella Blvd's Seeds of Faith and jumping on this blog hop bandwagon. If you have found me by way of Wendy from On The Road to Destiny, a very big welcome to you.
And if you just so happen to stumble upon this blog hop, you can find all the links below at the end of my post.
Every once in a while as a mom of teen girls, I find this need to create an inspiration piece that will capture their attention with a message. My youngest daughter is in the midst of a few, hmmm...what shall we call it...life awakening experiences. As she is studying a particular portion of scripture right now, I wanted to take some of those verses, create a book, and make it very pretty for her to want to look at daily. OK...that may be ambitious...I would be happy if she were to look at it often.
I just so happen to love die cuts. Ashley, over at The Cut Shoppe, made a few available to us for this hop, and this is what I did. I took several of the die cuts, cut them on watercolor paper, and then layered various die cuts over them.
I found it super easy to cut a whole bunch of the digital dies up first. Even if I didn't use them all in this project, I am sure they will find a home in another paper project.
Then I layered these cuts over pattern paper from the Seeds of Faith Collection. Watercolor kept finding itself all over this project, and sort of gave a continuity to the pages.
The verses were typed up on watercolor paper also.
When I was done with what I wanted to share with my girl, I bound it all together. Let me walk you through each page and highlight the die cuts I used as well.
The goal of some of these cuts were to be inspirational messages to my daughter. Every morning when dropping her off at school one of the last things she hears me say is to 'shine'. So this was a perfect cut. This die cut is from How's the Weather.
On the rest of the scripture pages, the typed cards were layered over watercolor paper that had a wash added. Seeds of Faith Paper Pieces were used to embellish the page, along with pattern paper trimmed and notched.
Sometimes I think our teens especially, just don't know the positive effect they can have on others. The phrase to Be Awesome just can't be repeated enough. You can find this cut with the Words To Live By set.
The Seeds of Faith from Bella Blvd is part of the Illustrated Faith line. This collection is super easy to work with and really made this little book so easy to put together.
For these type pages, I cut the Funky Floral out of the watercolor paper. I layered the part with the negative cut on the pattern paper, and then added back in the floral positive piece. Liked how this came together.
Here is found the Pie Hearts. I did the same technique here as in the one above.
The Paper Pieces could not make me happier. Loved how I could mix Shanna's Favorite Watercolor Set and match up the colors pretty well.
Lastly I used the Today from the Say The Word set. I really love this set. It includes 8 words that are spot on for any paper project. Here on this page I chose to just use the negative cut from the paper.
Hope this book gives my daughter inspiration to live each and every day. Hope this project inspires you to create for a friend or family member who could used some uplifting words. And hope too that you enjoy the rest of the blog hop...as you are in the midst of some amazing talent ahead and behind.
