word of the year ~ marquee love
1.20.2016
This week the Heidi Swapp Media Team has been sharing their word of the year. And we have been been putting them up in lights.
Marquee Love lights and new Spring Collection pattern paper, glitter tape, and Paper Flowers.
My word for 2016 is GROW. Actually, I have to laugh...my word found me this past fall. This year's word made itself very loud and clear. I had several encounters with people and books and articles that challenged me in my personal growth. Asking me if I had a personal growth plan. John Maxwell's book, 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth, was discovered right about this time. I am now using that read as a personal life manual. More on that in another post, perhaps.
For today let's just talk about pretty stuff. I mean, how can one NOT pay attention and be drawn to their word when it's lit and made pretty with the new Spring embellishments from Heidi Swapp that is right now available at Michaels.
Because of the nature of the word, the Paper Flowers seemed to me to be a perfect addition to the letters. I simply layered the pink ones on top of another. Tied bows of natural twine and glued to the centers. I used big glue dots to cluster and attach to the side of the 'W'.
A single bloom is part of the 'G'.
The Marquee Love Black Stripe Decorative Tape is wrapped around each letter. To make things easy I only wrapped around the outer edges and did not attempt the inside parts of the letter.
There is a new 8x8 Paper Pad also available at Michaels. The patterns and hues found in this pad is some of my favorite Heidi designs ever. Seriously. This paper will be found in more places than just the Marquee Love.
There are more than one floral, a couple of wood grain patterns, a sweet polka dot...well, you get the idea. Check Maggie , Jen , and Lindsay's recent posts to see their take on their word for the year. Kim's will be posted later this week.
The 'W' is diy'd using the Glitter Tape. Using a "W" template, I laid strips of tape across the letter and trimmed as needed. There is a beautiful soft gold glitter, but it was more glitter than would have worked for the patterns I chose here. It's nice having those options, though.
So what's your Word of the Year. Mine is not a little word. It's big in spirit, and it's big sitting on my shelf in my studio. It is very visual. It's pretty to look at. And that makes it inspiring as well.
Hoping you found some inspiration to create a great way to see your word of the year today.
