Hopefully you all have made your way over to Jot to check out the latest edition of that fabulous online publication. So full of inspiration.
Hi friends...happy new week of September...
Happy to share my favorite submission to Jot's latest magazine right here with you today...
Kim had a recipe challenge for us. I chose recipe # 3 which asked us to include the following into a layout and try and stick to just these items:
1 white background
2 small black and white photos
1 cut file title
blast of colors orange and teal
1 patterned paper
a story of life right now
I love using these recipes just about as much as I love sketches.
For my white background I used watercolor paper as the base.
The 2 small black and white photos are obvious choices. I cropped them in Photoshop Elements and then printed them at home.
The cut file title is from Kerri Bradford. As a bonus, I 'painted' the die cut with Heidi Swapp Metallic Texture Paste. It gave the cut great dimension and a bit more stability.
Blast of orange and teal were probably the best part of putting this page together. The orange came by way of Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss pattern paper. The background was also watercolored and sprinkled with orange color paint. The teal came by way of the title plus a button and some teal found from embellishments from my stash.
The story of right now was a surprise visit from my daughter's friend. She had been out of the country for awhile and just happened to drop by one afternoon for some catching up time. I love these pics we grabbed before they had to leave. It's my daughter at her best...with her friends and engaging in meaningful relationships.
So head back over to Jot and check out those recipes and challenge yourself to one of them. They really make for great fun!
Love how you used the watercolors!
