art of observation ~ lyrics
4.27.2012
Heidi prompted this weeks project with a song.
What song plays in your head while looking at a certain set of photos.
As I pondered this thought, and even stayed still about it for a bit, it hit me!
Inspired by the Basic Grey paper In Flight...
Fly Me Away by Annie Little.
I hand lettered the title on the first part of the layout...Mr. Pate and I on our 20th anniversary (three years ago! yikes!!!).
A fabulous friend took a series of photos of us in Newport Beach...
I had yet to document any of them...
so the first part of this memory folder is photos of that event.
A hidden slide out pocket (loving the interactive...using it EVERYWHERE)...holds 4 more photogs of us.
Inside pages hold a few of my fav poses of him.
Plus...some pics of him on a recent missions trip with middle schoolers...o.k...does he NOT take the award for best Dad Ever for taking middle schoolers to a missions trip? um...yeah!
The lyrics were printed on cardstock and scattered throughout using one of my go to fonts: Traveling Typewriter.
More inside pages...
can I just add...I did not 'get' the memory file system of Heidi's at first...
I had to be still {wink at Rhonna} and work the system at first before I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT.
I have 15 photos in this folder...and plenty o'room for more!
And then there is the making of my own folders...because I just have to play with these concepts and see what I come up with.
So NOTE: by using a manila folder, and then covering them with my own choices of pattern paper, it makes for a very sturdy file. I have even had one in my bag that I carry everything in...and it has not dented or damaged or anything....it has stayed in very, very good shape. I like that.
supplies: Basic Grey In Flight ; My Mind's Eye Follow Your Heart Be Amazing Ephemera and Be Happy Adorable; Crate Paper Play Date; Heidi Swapp Labels; Echo Park Bingo; Core Essentials Cardstock ; Making Memories Text Dot Findings ; RhonnaDESIGNS Simple Photo Edges2 kit.
A few more things of note here:
Have you seen Rhonna's Creativity Week series on her blog?
you HAVE to go and read. study. and read it again.
it is fabulous insight from someone who truly lives this creative spirit.
and I have to add...it is already working in my soul.
and I NEED it to work..i have scary creative goals in front of me that need some serious inspiration +perspiration.
One other thing.
Margie has put together a fabulous mini kit based on her Vintage Market line from Bazzill.
There are a few kits left.
So go. get it.
and create!

I absolutely LOVE this idea of a memory folder. I've never been interested in any form of scrapbooking, but I could totally get into this. Of course, mine would be a lot simpler but I truly love the concept.
