we have been making these granola bars for many, many years. my kids love them gone. (it is personally fulfilling to know what makes my kids happy, especially if i can bake it). i make it a point to keep the ingredients always in the pantry. when i remember, i add protein powder to the mix to pump up the protein aspect of the treat.
chewy granola bars
1 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup peanut butter (we are peanut butter snobs here and make our own)
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup melted butter
2 teaspoons vanilla
mix the above in a big bowl...then add:
3 cups old fashion oats
1/2 cup coconut
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/3 cup wheat germ (make sure you get the kind that is refrigerated)
2 teaspoons sesame seeds
1 cup chocolate chips
stir well.
then press into a greased 15x10 sheet pan.
bake 20 minutes @ 350.
cut while still warm, then cool before serving.
enjoy!
YUMMY! I love these types of recipes! So much healthier and better than the store-bought kind!
