for some this may be lovely...and unfortunately the photo is not wonderful, bad glare. but you get the idea. this is a thrift store score at around $2.00. the frame is a shadow box with this floral arrangement popped up on it. the thought was to spray paint the frame, but as i worked on it decided that the roughed up brown stain would do nicely. there was a piece of canvas backing the flower portion, and i painted that in making memories manila (love that paint). then, i took a few of my photos from paris, worked one of rhonna farrer's digital kit, vintage tool on them. printed them out and distressed and inked the edges. i adhered the photos to the painted canvas and placed back into the frame. and i loved it...

here's a better shot of some detail.

now for our rooster frame. same thing...thought it needed to be painted...but the photos i had in mind lended themselves to a distressed wood framing them.
with this photo i used the same vintage tool to edit. the text was added using the cezzanne font from p22, one of my most favorite fonts. this time it was printed on textured eggshell bazzill. it turned out so great. again, i distressed the edges and inked. matted it on more textured cardstock, and stuck it inside that $2.00 frame. i love it.
not sure if i love how much it looks more than i love that it was so frugal and has so many of my touches...but it is a wonderful addition to my 'paris' guest bathroom, and it makes me smile everytime i see it.

have a wonderful fall day...

  1. OMG these turned out great!!! I was just looking at an old framed mirror today that is in my garage thinking I should do something with it too. Now I need to go at it :)
